Schedule an Appointment

Schedule Your Appointment

To schedule your free 15-minute phone consultation or to schedule your first appointment, there are two easy ways to contact us:

By Phone

Call us at (414) 269-8660 to schedule an initial phone screening or appointment with Dr. Phelps or Dr. Skaistis. Although we are often not immediately available by telephone, a message can be left at this number at any time of day or night. We check voicemail periodically during business hours and will always attempt to respond to your call within 24 hours, with the exception of weekends, holidays, and times that we are scheduled to be away from the office.

By Email

Because the security of email communications cannot be guaranteed, it is recommended that email be limited to requests for initial phone consultations or requests for information. Please only include general information about yourself and your treatment. We can be contacted through email by clicking here. Any communication that requires immediate attention or a timely response should be made by phone.

EMERGENCIES

Although you can leave us a message at any time, we are often not available to call you back immediately. If you have an emergency that does not require immediate attention, please call us and we will return your call as quickly as possible. However, if you have an emergency requiring immediate attention, please:

  • Call 988 (the suicide and mental health crisis hotline),
  • Call 911 (for any emergency that requires immediate assistance from the police, fire department, or ambulance), or
  • Visit the emergency room at the nearest hospital

If there is an emergency during our work together, or your therapist becomes concerned about your personal safety and the two of you are not able to resolve it together, we are required by law and by the ethical rules of our profession to contact someone close to you (for example, a relative, partner/spouse, or close friend) or local crisis services. We are also required to contact this person, or the authorities, if we become concerned that you intend to harm someone else.

APPOINTMENTS

Though commonly called a “therapy hour,” a regular psychotherapy session actually lasts for 45-50 minutes. During the first few sessions you and your therapist will both decide if your therapist is the best person to provide the services you need. If you and your therapist decide to continue with psychotherapy, your therapist will be able to provide you with some impressions of what your work together will involve and discuss treatment goals. You will usually schedule one or more sessions per week at a mutually agreed upon time. If either you or your therapist decide for any reason that you would be better helped by another professional or method of intervention, your therapist will offer referrals for alternative services or providers.

CANCELLATIONS & MISSED APPOINTMENTS

If it is necessary to reschedule or cancel an appointment, MAPS requires that you provide advance notice except in the cases of sudden illness or emergencies. Cancellation and rescheduling policies will be reviewed in detail at your initial appointment.
